The tennis star was back on her Facebook page today with an update on her hairstyle, one day after fooling the world into thinking she had cut her famously long blonde tresses. Her long hairstyle was liked by billions of fan. But Maria Sharapova cut off her hair into short bob hairstyle.

Sharapova 'haircut' sparks internet frenzy:

A short haircut by Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova provoked a backlash among fans after she posted pictures of the new style on her official Facebook page. She later revealed that the new look was actually a wig that she had put on for a shoot.

The tennis star was shocked by the response which she got from her fans for the new hairdo. "Wow, when I posted those photos with the short hair I had no idea everyone would all go bananza....( my dear friends, I never actually said I cut my hair!)", wrote Sharapova on her official Facebook page as she posted a picture with usual long hair to go along with it.

Maria Sharapova says she didn't really chop off her hair:

The look for the shoot shows the three-time Grand Slam winner still being a blonde, but most of her earlier long hair is now gone, and the new haircut finishes just below her ears.
