How to Look Like Katrina Kaif: Beauty Secrets, Makeup Tips and Hair Styles

Want to learn how to look like Bollywood actress and star Katrina Kaif? Here is your comprehensive how-to guide on Katrina Kaif’s beauty secrets, makeup mantras, and hair styling tips.
Katrina Kaif is one of India’s most sought-after superstars, known for her beautiful face and stunning body. Kat first came into the public eye as the girlfriend of Salman Khan. At that time, this half-Indian, half-British beauty was still a struggling model. After she became actor Akshay Kumar’s “lucky charm”, starring in several hit films by his side, Katrina’s star began to shine in its own right. Now she is one of the hottest celebrities in B-town, sought after for everything from magazine covers to starring roles.
KATRINA’S DIET, EXERCISE AND SKINCARE
Katrina begins her morning by drinking three to four glasses of water, starting the detox process early. She always advises drinking a lot of water for clear and radiant skin. Katrina sips antioxidant-rich green tea and black coffee throughout the day to keep her energy levels up (UTV Stars).
Katrina says: “I’m not sure if you could call it a ‘diet’ but I do try and eat right… I mean eating the right foods, in right quantities, at the right time. If you follow this mantra, you’re sure to be not just in better shape but also feel much healthier from within” (Pinkvilla).
This Bollywood beauty stays up-to-date on the latest beauty trends, and is not afraid of experiment with her routine for best results. Says Kat: “I use acai berry supplements to keep my skin healthy. I have wheatgrass powder every day in a drink. I am trying to give myself an antioxidant boost with green tea and am on a macrobiotic raw food diet” (Vogue India).

Katrina eats fresh fruits every two hours, and gets all of her vitamins and minerals from plenty of fresh vegetables. She prefers brown bread on her sandwiches. Katrina likes to consume a lot of fiber to keep her system regular and fresh, and avoids carbohydrates and empty calories. People Magazine revealed the diet Kat undertook to get in shape for her item song “Sheela ki Jawani”:
  • Breakfast: Cereals and oatmeal
  • Lunch: Grilled/steamed fish with buttered brown bread
  • Evening snack: Brown bread peanut butter sandwich
  • Dinner: Soup, fish and some rotis with grilled vegetables
Kat told Vogue India that she doesn’t usually hit the gym because she puts on muscle easily, and has instead turned to pilates with instructor Yasmin Karachiwala. She also enjoys swimming, jogging, weight training, and Kathak dancing (Indiatimes). Exercise, Katrina says, is her “shortcut to beauty therapy”, because it gives her blood circulation a boost and makes her skin feel healthier.
The pretty actress likes to stress that true beauty comes from within: “If you feel good from inside, you are bound to have great looks very soon. Most of the people go for the external cure only. But you must be healthy within if you are looking forward to that natural glow” (Times of India).
Katrina says that “the way you look, honestly, has a lot to do with how you feel… the calmer you are, the easier the smile comes to your face” (Desihits). Kat also likes to unwind at spas and beauty salons, saying that her “favorite beauty haunt” is the Shahnaz Herbal Clinic. She regularly indulges in facial and body massages at The Oberoi and Freeda’s in Bandra (Bwood Beauty).
Known for her smooth, moon-like complexion, Katrina’s favorite beauty tip is to keep it clean! “The only [beauty rule] I adhere to religiously is ‘take off your makeup’ before you hit the bed. It helps tremendously!… I use a face wash by Mene & Moy which has two per cent salicylic acid and LancĂ´me Cleansing Milk for the face and eyes” (iheartmakeup). She also uses the Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil (Vogue India).

But, like all of us, Katrina too suffers from skin imperfections. “To deal with a beauty emergency,” Kat says, “I rely on a mineral mud mask by Anne Semonin. It calms my skin” (Bwood Beauty). Mud masks are said to draw out impurities and toxins, firm skin, and bring a rejuvenated glow by encouraging blood circulation. Kat believes less is more when it comes to makeup, saying, “My skin behaves well if I use less make-up” (iheartmakeup).
Katrina is not a stickler for specific beauty products on her skin but likes to keep her brands high-end: “I don’t have any favourites. What matters to me is that the product has to be from a reputed company… I feel that even if it may work out a bit more expensive, it’s worth it” (Pinkvilla).
To moisturize her skin, she chooses a La Prarie night cream or the Clarins Gentle Night Cream at night and the Peter Thomas Roth Max Daily Defense Moisture Cream SPF 30 or the Purifying Apricot Facial Oil by Anne Semonin by day.
Kat keeps her lips soft with Smith’s Rosebud Salve and Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1.
Katrina’s favorite perfume is Gucci Rush. She likes to pick up new fragrances that suit her fancy when she is travelling at duty-free shops.
KATRINA’S MAKEUP LOOK

1) Give yourself a flawless base
Kat’s number one asset is her gorgeous peaches ‘n’ cream complexion. No matter how busy she is, she always makes sure to have her concealer and powder in place for any appearance. (Remember ladies, you don’t have to be fair like Katrina to have sensational skin! Just make sure you are concealing imperfections carefully- any skin color can be Bollywood-worthy.)
Katrina avoids foundation and sticks with a cream concealer (Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream Palette in No. 3) and a loose powder (M.A.C NC 30 Select Sheer Loose Powder). For touch-ups to prevent shine, she carries a pressed powder with her (Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Warm Natural). Her makeup must-have is her cream highlighter (Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat).
Fun tip: “[When feeling tired] I put ice in a muslin cloth and apply it on my face before I wear makeup. I do that because it wakes me up,” says Katrina (People).
2) Wear a peach-toned blush
Peach blushes look divine on fair-skinned Bollywood celebs like Katrina and Kareena. Try peach, peach-beige, or pink-peach blushes to emulate Katrina’s healthy radiance. Her go-to cosmetics brand for blushes is Giorgio Armani.
3) Wear lipgloss
Katrina “doesn’t like makeup, but loves lipgloss” (UTV Stars). Katrina uses Stila Lip Glaze in Apricot and MAC Tinted Lipglass in Underage. Lately she has been favoring the above lip color, a gorgeous coppered plum (MAC Tinted Lipglass in Lovechild).
KATRINA’S HAIR STYLES
I’ve said before that Katrina has the best hair in the business. On her hair care routine, she says: “I wash my hair with Pantene shampoo once every two days. It’s something I’ve been using since I was a child. After washing my hair, I use a leave-in conditioner and serum because my hair is fine and tends to get frizzy in the heat. And then I blow dry it” (People).
“I use Kiehl’s Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Hair Pak… My hair is exposed to a lot of styling and blow-drying so I also use heat-protect products. I use Pantene Five Minute Strengthening Rinse-Off Mask; it really works on my thick hair” (Vogue India).
To get hair like Katrina, blow-dry or straighten with a flat iron and curl the bottom half into large, loose curls.
Kat told Cosmo Magazine that she takes iron supplements, which she says are “excellent for hair”. She has been quoted multiple times saying that she has regretted coloring her hair in the past, as it caused it to dry up and fall out. I’m sure Katrina would advise you to keep your hair its natural color!
“My hair suffers quite a bit, thanks to the number of products that are used during shoots to style it,” says Katrina. “I try and take care of it by using serums or going for a hair spa. I get my hair trimmed from a good hairdresser once a month. In Mumbai, I go to Asif Rajan, Dilshad Pastakia or Sapna Bhavnani” (Pinkvilla).
And that’s how you can use diet, exercise, makeup, and hair styling to look just like Bollywood celebrity Katrina Kaif. Let us know what you think and if there are any other celebrities you’d like to learn more about!

Hairstyles for Thin Hair

Best hairstyles for fine hair or thin hair: Stay ahead of hair loss with strategic cuts, styling tricks and color

Before we get specific about the best cuts and color solutions for fine, thinning hair, you need to know that hair loss doctors do not expect you to stop coloring your hair (if you do) or resist using heat to style it. What they do suggest is being strategic about chemical processing and styling:
  • You might consider downsizing your color routine from double process with highlights to just highlights or going closer to your natural color.
  • You may want to give up a few inches (do you really need stringy hair hanging down your back?) to get extra fullness and volume.
  • But ditch the tight ponytails and cornrows — that kind of traction is non-negotiable.
  • Hair loss specialist Dr. Catherine A. Orentreich of the Orentreich Medical Group in New York City adds, “If you get a salon straightening treatment, opt for the Brazilian keratin one, not the Japanese method, which is more destructive to the hair shaft.”

FREE REPORT: Discover what you really need to know about female hair thinning. Download our FREE report Expert Solutions for Thinning Hair and Female Hair Loss Treatments for Women Over 50.

    Hair Basis
Let’s get a few basics straight about hair. Hair is dead — the part that is alive is under your scalp in the follicle. The hair that we style and color — the hair shaft — is made up of a protein called keratin. The outer layer of the hair shaft is called the cuticle and when that is smooth, resilient and strong, your hair looks healthy. The cuticle covers the inner cortex and medulla of the hair and is composed of layers that overlap like a tiered sk
    irt.

When you blow-dry your hair in a certain way and add a styling product, the layers of the cuticle get fluffed up instead of being smooth — and your hair appears fuller. There’s one pro I’ve worked with for years who knows this topic cold: celebrity hair (and makeup) artist Jim Crawford, who specializes in women over 50. His clients include Helen Mirren, Susan Sarandon, Cybill Shepherd, Isabella Rossellini, Valerie Bertinelli, Shirley MacLaine and Christine Baranski – all known for their trademark hair. Jim insists that most celebs do not have great hair. “You always see them after pros have worked to transform their thin, fragile, chemically fried hair.
Most bring hairpieces matched to their hair to the set or ask me to bring them along. Thinning hair, bald spots and receding hairlines can be camouflaged – trust me, I do it all the time.” Crawford relies on one of these four basic cuts to create the illusion of more hair and hide sparse areas. At least one will work for you.

The four best cuts to flatter thin hair
  • A short, classic bob
This blunt, chic, chin-length cut is a foolproof disguise for hair that has all-over thinning and/or skimpy areas at the crown or back or the head. You can add full side-swept bangs to camouflage a skimpy hairline. It’s low-maintenance and can get blown up easily for a fuller look with a blow-out and styling lotion. It’s versatile and can be worn on or off the face. Inspirations: Jackie O, Cybill Shepherd, Kim Cattrall, Christine Baranski, Anna Wintour, Ellen Barkin.
  • A short, choppy bob
Add irregular length layers and pieces for a fuller look. The tousled, shaggy look can give the effect of more hair and texture. It’s especially valuable for women wanting to camouflage thinning at the crown or back of the head. Inspirations: Meg Ryan, Diane Sawyer, Glenn Close, Helen Mirren.
  • A mid-length, shoulder-grazing cut angled in long layers around the face
This length is as long as a woman with thin hair should go, but it has the feel of longer hair. Have your hairdresser remove all weight from the ends so the hair moves. Inspirations: Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, Iman, Jaclyn Smith, Suzanne Somers.
  • A short, layered crop with bangs
This look is gamine in spirit but sophisticated and still sexy. If you have a great neck, fairly crisp jaw-line and your thinning is most obvious along the front hairline this cut can be an ally. Inspirations: Annette Bening, Judy Dench, Shirley MacLaine.

Once you have the right cut for you, there are two more secrets to building in fullness:
  • Using the right blow-dry technique
  • Choosing the right texture styling product.

Professional styling secrets for thin hair
Here are Jim Crawford’s behind-the scenes styling tricks:
  • Quickly rough dry your hair with your blow-dryer on a high heat setting using your hands and fingers to lift and move the hair. You want to be fast as possible and not use any brushes.
  • Your goal is to eliminate 80 % of the water in your hair before applying styling product. The reason? If you leave water in your hair when you apply volumizers, the result is diluted.
  • Don’t worry at this point about frizz or perfection, just get it nearly dry.
  • Then spray on a styling lotion or a mousse to build in body. These formulas are light, non-greasy and provide just enough lift and texture. You must avoid all waxes, gels, pastes, polishers, styling creams, shine boosting mists and silicone serums. They will weigh your hair down, make it oily and revealing sparse areas. Even if the label on one of these seven products says volumizing or for fine thin hair or body-boosting, ignore them — they are not for you.
  • Finish the look by continuing to rough dry once the styling spray or mousse is in you hair. Then just polish the ends with a round or flat brush as a final step in your blow-out.
  • An alternative finish is to continue to blow dry using your hands to direct the hair in the direction you want it to go. When your hair is totally dry, very lightly and quickly run a flat iron or a barrel iron from mid-hair shaft to ends only. Don’t run the iron over and over through the hair or linger over a spot

Choosing a Hair Salon For Every Person

Choosing a Hair Salon

Choosing a Salon:
o One of the best ways to find a salon that is right for you and your child is word of mouth. In your travels throughout the day, while at the grocery store or any place children may be accompanying their parents, pay close attention to other children ’s hairstyles.
o You want to find a salon that has a great reputation for working with children. Find out how long they’ve been in business. A year is long enough for a reputation to be established and for you to feel secure. Before going, find out if they take children and about the starting age.

Ask for a Consultation:

1. Many salons will offer consultations. This is a good idea if you’ve never been to a salon before or if you’re trying a salon for the first time.

2. A consultation will give the stylist a chance to check the texture and condition of your child’s hair and discuss style options with you.

3. The consultation should include information about the price of the style, an explanation of the technique, and an estimated length of time it will take for the style to be completed, including any waiting time.

4. This is also a good time to ask about how long the style will last and its maintenance
requirements

5. During a consultation you shouldn’t feel rushed. A stylist can answer questions even while working on someone else ’s hair. Don’t feel intimidated. Ask all of the questions you came with and continue the dialogue until you feel satisfied.

Preparing Your Child for a Salon Experience:

Taking a child to a hair salon for the first time can be a fun experience as well as exciting. Sometimes though, the excitement turns to fear once the child is separated from the parent and is experiencing a stranger touching them.

In order to prepare your child, here are some tips:
1. Talk with your child a few weeks before and start continuously preparing her for the salon experience the closer it gets. Make sure you let the child know she will need to sit still and the importance of her cooperating with the stylist.
2.If your child starts to cry at the salon, ask the stylist if you can hold your child’s hand or let the child sit on your lap.
3. Bring books, dolls or other portable activities to entertain your child at the salon. Based on the day of the week and time of day, your child may have to wait while the stylist rotates clients.

Kids Hair Styles And Hair Cut

Kids Hair Styles And Hair Cut

Continuing previous topic I’d like to talk about kid's  haircuts. Healthy hair is beautiful in and of itself. Hair care just helps to  keep it  healthy and more beautiful. To make it nicer usually we do  our hair.

Some Popular Boys Hair Styles:

1. The Fade (hair cut short on the top and close on the sides) Care: Wash once a week and use a light oil and brush.

2. Maintaining this style will require frequent trimming (possibly every other week) based on the rate of hair growth.

3. The “All Even (hair is cut even all around the head) Care: Wash once a week and use a light oil and brush

4. Maintaining this style will require frequent trimming (possibly every other week) based on the rate of hair growth.

5. Buy your son a pick to comb his hair. Make sure he combs the hair from the root to the ends. If it isn’t combed everyday, it will become matted and very difficult to comb.

6. Consider braiding his hair in cornrows at night so his hair will stay neater and will be easier to comb (note: a boys hair needs to be at least 5 inches in length in order to cornrow).

7.Wash the hair once a week.

8. Take your son to a barber for shape-up every three weeks.

9 Keep the hair moisturized with hair oil.
